Summer Flower Arranging

Learn creative and colorful flower arrangements in time for Summer! Taking inspiration from the theme ‘landscape,’ this class will offer hands-on techniques to build a basic flower arrangement in a Japanese-style vase, like those on-view in the JAPAN HOUSE gallery exhibition KESHIKI | The Landscape Within.

While Japanese ceramics are often paired with traditional Japanese flower arrangement (ikebana), the study of ikebana is complex and requires time and commitment. This class will focus on how to activate your Japanese-style ceramic with simpler techniques and flowers that can be purchased easily.

The class will be taught by acclaimed floral designer, Mitsuko Osuga. Born in Japan, Ms. Osuga specializes in Western-style flower arrangement. In this class she will share how she incorporates Japanese sensibilities and aesthetics to create arrangements that are elegant, harmonious, and exuberant. All participants will be able to keep their flower arrangements, and a temporary vase will be provided.
